Job summary

The Site Reliability Engineer improves application performance and production reliability across a multi-tenant automotive SaaS platform. The role uses Datadog APM, traces, logs, and infrastructure metrics to diagnose issues in PHP/Symfony and Node.js services, then coordinates or implements fixes, responds to incidents, and supports Azure and AKS infrastructure. It also includes maintaining Terraform-managed dashboards and SLOs and contributing to automation and Model Context Protocol integrations.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with an APM or observability platform for investigating production performance issues.
  • Working knowledge of PHP, ideally Symfony and Doctrine, and ability to read, profile, and propose fixes for unfamiliar code.
  • Understanding of database query optimization, caching, HTTP and CDN behavior, and runtime tuning.
  • Practical experience with Terraform.
  • Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and a major cloud provider; Azure is preferred.
  • Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar, with confidence using Git and Linux.
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly and turn evidence into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience with Node.js/NestJS, frontend performance, SLOs, SLIs, or error budgets is desirable.
  • Experience with AI/ML tooling, LLMs, or MCP integrations is desirable.
  • Experience with microservices and multi-tenant SaaS environments is desirable.
  • Familiarity with ArgoCD, GitLab CI, Helm, or Kustomize is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Use Datadog APM, distributed tracing, logs, and infrastructure metrics to identify and prioritize performance issues.
  • Diagnose performance problems in PHP/Symfony and Node.js services, including slow queries, cache misses, and resource bottlenecks.
  • Build and maintain Datadog dashboards, monitors, and SLOs as code using Terraform.
  • Review performance trends and remediation progress with Engineering Managers.
  • Create evidence-backed tickets and follow issues through to delivery.
  • Maintain the performance and reliability backlog in Linear and escalate unresolved risks.
  • Raise pull requests for well-scoped fixes.
  • Respond to alerts and incidents, use runbooks to restore service, and contribute to post-incident reviews.
  • Join the on-call rota after learning the platform.
  • Support Azure and AKS infrastructure managed with Terraform and deployed through GitOps using ArgoCD.
  • Tune alerting and write scripts to reduce manual investigation and repetitive operational work.
  • Apply secrets-management and least-privilege practices to observability tooling.
