Senior Cloud Engineer

Job summary

Designs, builds, and operates cloud infrastructure and platform services that support digital products and engineering teams. The role uses infrastructure as code, automation, and CI/CD pipelines to deliver secure, scalable, observable, and reliable environments, while supporting production incidents, improving cloud costs, and applying networking, identity, security, and compliance controls. It also contributes reusable platform patterns and mentors engineers.

Qualifications

• At least five years of cloud, infrastructure, or platform engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating cloud-native infrastructure and services.
• Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, including version control, testing, and automated delivery.
• Experience operating services on at least one major cloud platform.
• Experience with containers, orchestration, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Understanding of cloud networking, identity and access management, security, and compliance.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automated provisioning and deployment processes.
• Experience implementing observability, monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling.
• Experience supporting production infrastructure and resolving operational incidents.
• Understanding of resilience, distributed systems, and infrastructure supportability.
• Understanding of AI-assisted software delivery and the infrastructure needed to support it safely.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure and platform services.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code modules, automation tools, and deployment pipelines.
• Build monitoring, observability, alerting, and operational controls into infrastructure.
• Support production environments through incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution.
• Apply identity, access, security, compliance, and operational controls.
• Improve reliability, consistency, and maintainability through automation and reusable engineering patterns.
• Contribute to cloud cost optimisation through automation, right-sizing, and platform improvements.
• Collaborate on design reviews and mentor engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
