Job summary
Own the availability, scalability, and performance of MariaDB/MySQL database platforms supporting real-time, latency-sensitive services. Design and operate highly available clusters, automate provisioning and maintenance with Infrastructure as Code, and improve reliability through Linux and Kubernetes operations, CI/CD, monitoring, security, backups, and recovery. The role spans on-premise and hybrid infrastructure and requires collaboration with platform, DevOps, and application teams.

Qualifications
- At least five years of hands-on experience managing production database platforms, preferably MariaDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience operating Linux systems in on-premise or hybrid environments and troubleshooting storage, networking, and system resource issues.
- Experience using Ansible and Terraform to automate database and infrastructure workflows.
- Experience integrating databases into CI/CD pipelines and supporting reliable releases.
- Production experience with Prometheus and Grafana.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Based in Montréal or the surrounding area and authorized to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve highly available, resilient, and scalable database platforms.
- Operate database clusters across environments, including replication, failover, backups, and performance tuning.
- Automate database provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance using Infrastructure as Code.
- Operate and troubleshoot Linux systems supporting database workloads in bare-metal and hybrid environments.
- Integrate database changes and schema deployments into CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement database monitoring and alerting with Prometheus and Grafana.
- Apply security practices for access control, encryption, and compliance; improve availability and recovery processes.
- Collaborate with platform, DevOps, and application teams; contribute to tooling, documentation, incident reviews, and continuous improvement.
