Job summary
The Field Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and expansion of euNetworks' fiber optic infrastructure. This role involves hands-on work such as OTDR measurements, splicing, and implementing installation and expansion projects in the field and in data centers. The engineer will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure high network availability and quality.
Qualifications
- Completed technical training (e.g., IT system electronics, telecommunications, electrical engineering) or specialized further training
- Proven professional experience in fiber optic infrastructure
- Strong personality with a willingness to take responsibility and act confidently in critical situations
- Polite demeanor and strong service orientation when dealing with international customers
- Highly efficient work ethic and understanding of time and budget-critical projects
- Valid driver's license Class B, preferably BE
- Very good German language skills
- Basic English language skills
Responsibilities
- Maintain passive fiber optic infrastructure (routes, sleeves, distributors) to ensure maximum network availability
- Expand existing infrastructure by installing and assembling high-fiber backbone cables
- Establish new Fiber POPs and switch new Fiber SPANs
- Troubleshoot complex faults using OTDR measurements
- Perform professional repairs through fusion splicing or cable replacement
- Conduct detailed on-site inspections and precise inventory recording for audits and expansions
- Perform acceptance measurements according to euNetworks standards and specifications
- Manage installation and implementation for national and international large-scale projects
- Coordinate with dedicated partners and their field technicians for new orders
- Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule to ensure network stability
- Work in modern data centers (colocation) and public spaces on shafts and conduit systems
