Job summary

Shopware is seeking an IT Infrastructure Architect with a Cloud Focus to lead the vision and architecture of their internal infrastructure. This role involves planning and managing the cloud migration of on-premise environments, defining network and security architecture, and establishing standards, governance, and budgeting. The position offers significant scope for conceptualization, implementation, and iteration to build a future-proof internal platform.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in a comparable architecture or leadership role across cloud and on-prem infrastructures
  • Broad technical expertise to integrate network, identity, compute, storage, backup/DR, and security for pragmatic, scalable decisions
  • Cloud competency, especially AWS, vCenter, Azure AD/ID, and local AD, to manage migrations and hybrid setups
  • Proficiency in IaC, enterprise networking, VPN, and monitoring stacks (e.g., Terraform, SonicWall, Cisco Meraki, Tailscale, PRTG/Datadog/CloudWatch)
  • Strong planning and stakeholder management skills to coordinate roadmaps, anticipate bottlenecks, and ensure commitment and timely implementation
  • Security as an integral part of work, translating policies into enforceable, auditable controls across the stack
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex trade-offs, adapt messages from executive briefings to technical specifications, and align teams
  • Very good written and spoken English is required
  • German is a significant advantage but not a prerequisite

Responsibilities

  • Assume end-to-end responsibility for infrastructure vision and roadmap
  • Modernize internal infrastructure and reduce risks for internal services by migrating on-premise environments to AWS
  • Define patterns and guidelines for reuse
  • Design and develop network infrastructure, ensuring segmentation, resilience, and operability
  • Review and improve monitoring, backup/restore, and observability standards (e.g., PRTG, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch)
  • Translate security requirements into practical controls, from firewall policies to identity and access (Azure AD/ID, local AD)
  • Plan and manage infrastructure budget, optimize cloud costs, and make informed make-or-buy decisions
  • Support migrations, collaborate with Cloud Engineers, and resolve complex incidents requiring architectural context
  • Lead projects and technically guide small project teams to deliver milestones on time and with quality
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners to align plans and sequence changes securely
