Job summary
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Agile Mind helps maintain and advance the company's infrastructure. This role combines infrastructure operations, production deployments, and employee-facing IT support, with a focus on owning the Linux platform and core services. The engineer ensures system reliability, security, and documentation, while supporting users and collaborating with engineers to define future growth, emphasizing automation, observability, and operational improvement.

Qualifications
- Comfortable with help desk and end-user application support for Windows and MacOS
- 5+ years of Linux (Debian) systems administration experience
- Experience administering Google Workspace
- Ability to confidently run Ansible playbooks and edit them in an emergency
- Fluency in version control systems (SVN/Git)
- Strong documentation discipline
- Strong incident response and escalation judgment
- Availability to travel to colocation facility (CA) 2-3 times per year
- Scripting experience in Bash and Python
- Experience with BIND/DNS, VPN, networking, and firewalls
- Hypervisor experience (Xen) (preferred)
- Backup technology experience (Borg) (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Provide desktop support and help desk for Agile Mind staff across multiple operating systems and software suites
- Execute employee onboarding and offboarding
- Perform weekly production content deployments using Ansible playbooks
- Conduct hypervisor and virtual machine lifecycle operations including provisioning, decommissioning, and basic maintenance
- Manage DNS, firewall, certificate, and credential requests on existing platforms
- Execute operating system patching on a regular cadence
- Coordinate hardware maintenance with colocation facility, including smart hands and occasional travel
- Document all primary functions
- Manage disaster recovery planning and backup operations
- Monitor and assess infrastructure, network, security, and user incidents
- Serve as primary responder for infrastructure incidents, escalating as needed
- Monitor and document the general IT budget
- Take primary ownership of Linux infrastructure (after demonstrating mastery of Core Operations)
- Assume ownership of hypervisor architecture, networking, and core services (after demonstrating mastery of Core Operations)
- Identify, propose, and execute infrastructure improvements (after demonstrating mastery of Core Operations)
