Principal System Platform Engineer (m/w/d) Mainframe

Job summary

The R+V is seeking a Principal System Platform Engineer (m/w/d) Mainframe to join their Operations and IT department. This role involves translating complex requirements into concepts, operating and developing the IBM Mainframe environment, and advising internal clients on solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive Mainframe knowledge and experience with z/OS.

Qualifications

• Successfully completed IT-related degree, comparable education, or relevant professional experience
• Extensive Mainframe knowledge and ability to share it
• Good knowledge of z/OS gained from previous activities
• Basic Mainframe infrastructure knowledge
• Experience with IBM Z System Automation (optional)
• Completed EMA Mainframe training (ideally)
• Good German language skills (ideally B2/C1 level)

Responsibilities

• Translate complex technical requirements into viable concepts with the Product Owner
• Operate and develop the IBM Mainframe environment (e.g., z/OS, JES2/3)
• Develop existing technologies and tools (e.g., z/OSMF, Omegamon)
• Advise internal clients on implemented solutions
• Participate in the installation of z/OS and system-related products (e.g., OPC, Compiler) and support optimization
• Apply expertise to resolve problem situations
