Job summary
The Senior Data Platform Engineer operates and continuously develops the core infrastructure of a data and AI platform, focusing on automation, cloud architecture, and CI/CD. Responsibilities include maintaining Python platform services, managing Terraform infrastructure across Azure and Databricks environments, administering Databricks workspaces and Unity Catalog, and building reusable Azure DevOps pipelines. The role also covers monitoring, incident response, cost oversight, and enabling secure AI workloads.

Qualifications
- Practical experience building YAML-based CI/CD pipelines and release workflows
- Strong experience with Azure services, architecture patterns, and identity and access management
- Production experience using Terraform in Azure environments
- Good knowledge of Databricks workspace and Unity Catalog administration
- Strong Python software engineering skills, including packaging, testing, and SDK/API use
- Experience with cloud monitoring, alerting, logging, and production service operations
- Good written and spoken English
- German language skills are preferred
- Bash knowledge is an advantage
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain central Python platform services for provisioning, deployment, and standards automation
- Manage Terraform infrastructure across Azure and Databricks development, QA, and production environments
- Develop Azure architecture for compute, storage, networking, and application hosting, with attention to security, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Administer Databricks workspaces, Unity Catalog, compute resources, and access permissions
- Build and maintain reusable Azure DevOps pipeline templates and release workflows with quality gates
- Oversee platform monitoring, alerting, incident response, and cost monitoring
- Help establish a secure, controlled platform foundation for developing and operating AI workloads
