System Platform Engineer (m/w/d) Linux

Job summary

R+V Versicherung AG is seeking a System Platform Engineer (m/w/d) Linux to join their Operations and IT department. This role involves ensuring the stable and economical operation of the central Linux platform, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of the operating system. The engineer will also be responsible for planning and supporting migrations, expansions, and technology refresh projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or similar field, or comparable professional experience
• Extensive experience as a Platform Engineer in a Linux environment
• High expertise in scripting languages (Shell, Perl, Python)
• Proficient in package management (RPMs)
• Routine use of versioning and automation tools (Ansible)
• Good communication skills
• Ability to inspire and convey clear objectives
• Self-reliant and proactive
• Enjoys working in agile structures and with agile methods
• Very good written and spoken German language skills (at least B2 level)

Responsibilities

• Responsible for stable and economical operation of the central Linux platform and associated products
• Install, configure, and maintain the operating system
• Advise agile release trains
• Utilize physical servers (HPE-SuperDome), HA-cluster systems (Pacemaker), and virtual machines (VMWare)
• Plan and support migrations, expansions, and technology refresh projects
• Ensure provision and smooth operation
• Optimize and automate existing processes and procedures
• Effectively use monitoring tools
