DevOps / CI-CD Engineer (Snowflake + dbt)

Job summary

Own and improve the CI/CD delivery pipeline for an enterprise Snowflake and dbt data platform, enabling repeatable, governed releases in a regulated environment. Automate code validation and promotion across DEV, TEST, UAT, and PROD; deploy Snowflake objects and infrastructure using the Snowflake CLI and Terraform or similar tools; and implement secure authentication, release approvals, rollback procedures, and audit trails.

Qualifications

• Experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines for data platforms, preferably Snowflake and dbt.
• Strong Git skills, including branching strategies, pull request workflows, branch protection, and merge management.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, or GitLab CI, including multi-stage pipelines and approval gates.
• Experience automating Snowflake deployments with the Snowflake CLI and Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Understanding of secrets management, service accounts, and secure authentication for automated pipelines.
• Working knowledge of dbt Core or Cloud, including compilation, builds, tests, selectors, environments, and artifacts.
• Experience implementing release approvals, rollback strategies, and audit trails.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Ability to work with engineering, architecture, governance, platform, and security stakeholders.
• Banking, financial services, or other regulated change-control experience is desirable.
• Experience with containerized build agents, self-hosted runners, data observability, automated data testing, or pipeline quality gates is desirable.
• Experience integrating ServiceNow or Jira for change and release traceability is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the end-to-end CI/CD pipeline for a Snowflake and dbt platform.
• Define and maintain Git branching strategies, branch protection rules, and merge conventions.
• Implement pull request validation, including dbt compilation, builds and tests, SQL linting, and slim CI.
• Automate gated promotion of code and objects across DEV, TEST, UAT, and PROD.
• Monitor pipeline health, improve build times, and enhance developer experience.
• Automate Snowflake object deployment with the Snowflake CLI and complementary tools.
• Provision and manage Snowflake infrastructure using Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Manage infrastructure state, drift detection, and environment parity.
• Implement secrets management and secure service account authentication with least-privilege access.
• Configure release approvals, environment protections, and segregation of duties for UAT and PROD.
• Design and test rollback and recovery procedures.
• Maintain audit trails linking work items, commits, pull requests, approvals, and deployments.
• Prepare release notes and evidence for change management and CAB processes.
• Document pipeline designs, runbooks, and onboarding guides, and coach engineers on Git and CI/CD practices.
