AI Platform Engineer

Job summary

Build and operate a shared AI platform that helps technology teams adopt AI-native engineering through reusable SDKs, APIs, prompt libraries, agent harnesses and golden paths. Provide secure model access and enterprise integrations, with controls for identity, permissions, audit logging and data isolation. Maintain platform reliability and observability while managing cloud costs and vendor flexibility across technologies including Azure, Kubernetes and Python.

Qualifications

• Hands-on production experience with AI tooling, coding agents, enterprise AI assistants, model APIs, retrieval-augmented generation and evaluation frameworks.
• Experience building and operating production platforms in platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps or site reliability.
• Experience building developer-facing products and measuring adoption and impact.
• Experience integrating enterprise systems through APIs and connectors with identity, secrets management and role-based access control.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Azure or an equivalent cloud, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code and CI/CD.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one other production language.
• Experience managing cloud cost, capacity and vendor relationships, including FinOps principles.

Responsibilities

• Create SDKs, APIs, prompt libraries, agent harnesses and golden paths for AI-native engineering.
• Build and operate a shared AI platform for model access, routing, identity, secrets, monitoring and enterprise connectors.
• Integrate enterprise data and collaboration systems while respecting existing permissions.
• Implement security controls including audit logging, data isolation and limits on agent actions.
• Provide visibility into costs, usage and vendors, and plan for model and provider changes.
• Partner with engineering leads and AI ambassadors to turn recurring needs into reusable platform capabilities.
• Maintain reliability, recovery standards, observability, alerting and runbooks with Site Reliability Engineering.
• Document platform work and share ownership across the team.
