API Platform Engineer

Job summary

Administer API gateway platforms and developer portals for banking API management, supporting modular API onboarding and major core or digital banking transformations. Implement API security and lifecycle controls, observability, analytics, throttling, and platform automation using technologies such as Kong, Apigee, Azure API Management, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code. Apply AI-assisted engineering to policy generation, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational analysis.

Qualifications

• 6–10+ years of banking API management experience
• Experience with a major core banking or digital banking transformation
• Working knowledge of BIAN APIs and banking service domains
• Hands-on experience with Kong, Apigee, Azure API Management, or an equivalent platform
• Knowledge of OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, OAuth, OIDC, Kubernetes or OpenShift, Git, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and approved AI engineering tools

Responsibilities

• Administer API gateways and developer portals

• Manage API versions, products, subscriptions, and lifecycle
• Implement observability, analytics, throttling, and monetisation controls where applicable

• Use AI-assisted engineering for policy generation, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational analysis
