Job summary

Optimum is seeking an entry to mid-level IP Network Site Reliability Engineer (SRE I) to join their IP Engineering team. The role involves supporting the monitoring, operation, and stability of core IP transport systems while collaborating with senior engineers to automate tasks and respond to incidents.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in network administration or SRE-related work
• Internship or project-based experience with routing and switching
• Understanding of IP networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, VLANs
• Familiarity with routing protocols and MPLS concepts
• Hands-on exposure to carrier-grade platforms
• Scripting experience for automation tasks
• Exposure to monitoring tools
• Awareness of cloud networking concepts

Responsibilities

• Monitor the health and performance of IP transport networks
• Support day-to-day operations, including configuration changes and routine maintenance
• Assist with troubleshooting incidents related to routing protocols and VPN services
• Execute runbooks and follow standard operating procedures for incident response
• Develop automation scripts to reduce manual network tasks
• Collect and analyze metrics and logs from monitoring systems
• Participate in an on-call rotation with guidance
• Document troubleshooting steps and network changes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable network services
