Associate Platform Engineer

Job summary

The Associate Platform Engineer at Scotiabank will engage in application design, development, and operations using technologies such as React, Node JS, and Java 8.

Qualifications

• Frontend development background in web applications using ReactJS, NodeJS, NextJS
• Technical experience with Core Java (Version 8 or higher), JDK17+
• Basic understanding of Spring framework, Spring Boot, and Kafka
• Familiarity with SOAP/REST, IntelliJ or Eclipse IDE
• Familiarity with GIT, Bitbucket, Gradle, Maven, Jira, Confluence
• Basic understanding of Google Cloud and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with agile environment
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Excellent team player with Agile experience

Responsibilities

• Champion a customer focused culture
• Provide system analysis, object-oriented design, technical documentation, and support for applications
• Provide recommendations on best practices and enhancements
• Work with project team to refine technical requirements
• Perform coding, unit testing, debugging, and documentation
• Participate in estimation and planning of development efforts
• Maintain, support, and enhance existing applications
• Lead implementation efforts for code
• Participate in production issue analysis and root cause analysis
• Assist product owners and business analysts in system behavior discovery
• Consider the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in activities
