Job summary
As a member of the System Administration team, you will support critical applications and ensure the stability of services by performing dedicated maintenance activities. You will engage in automation activities, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and remediation. This role involves knowledge of production support processes including incident/change/problem management, call triaging, and critical issue resolution procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent scale)
- Six months of Unix/Linux system administration or container experience
- Scripting knowledge and experience (Python)
- Knowledge of Cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Knowledge of Configuration management tools (Chef, Ansible, Terraform)
- Basic understanding of ITIL v4 processes including Incident, Change, Problem, and Release Management
- Good knowledge of networking concepts like TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
- Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and SharePoint
- Good understanding of Software Engineering concepts and methodologies
- Perform root cause analysis and track defect resolution to completion
- Ability to work independently with general supervision as a team player
- Work closely with application teams to ensure best practices are followed and infrastructure automation is self-service
- Self-motivated with the ability to exercise independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor
- Ability to coordinate activities within cross-divisional and cross-functional teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to multiple organizational levels internally and externally
- Ability to understand and adopt processes, project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices
- Availability for scheduled On-Call support for infrastructure and systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Perform Infrastructure Operations and Production Support for container technologies and orchestration platforms (Docker UCP, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
- Deploy, configure, scale, and manage containerized applications using OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Contribute to automation and self-service patterns (templates, scripts, IaC modules) for rapid, standardized environment creation for experimentation and production GenAI workloads
- Provide OpenShift Enterprise Support
- Work with Kubernetes ecosystem tools such as Helm, Kubeadm, Sysdig, Prometheus, Grafana, and FluentD
- Work with configuration management tools like Chef, Ansible, and Terraform
- Apply scripting and automation skills to convert manual and maintenance functions into fully orchestrated automation
- Share technical and customer knowledge in a helpful and timely fashion
- Partner with Platform, Engineering, and Delivery Teams to provide seamless infrastructure support for all Visa business lines
- Manage Security Remediation processes including vulnerability assessment and patch management
- Contribute to standardized and documented operational procedures
- Adhere to established ITIL practices such as Incident, Change, Problem, and Release Management
