Automation Engineer

Job summary

BMO is seeking an Automation Engineer to enhance automation, reliability, and operational excellence within the organization.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience with Ansible, GitHub, and Infrastructure Automation practices.
• Experience developing automation solutions using scripting and programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, JSON, and YAML.
• Strong understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
• Knowledge of observability concepts including instrumentation, telemetry, monitoring, and alerting.
• Strong understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale automation initiatives.
• Familiarity with GitHub repository administration and CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to cloud platforms and modern infrastructure technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain automation solutions using Ansible, ServiceNow and related technologies.
• Identify manual processes and operational inefficiencies, and develop automated solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Infrastructure, Operations, Application Development, Security, and Architecture.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in automation and Site Reliability Engineering practices.
• Ensure solutions comply with enterprise security policies and standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives focused on technology modernization and continuous improvement.
