Azure Cloud Engineer (m/w/d)

Job summary

This operational engineering role supports a business-critical Azure transformation through cutover and hypercare, maintaining service continuity and platform stability in production. The engineer troubleshoots Azure IaaS/PaaS infrastructure, monitors availability and security, executes planned changes and recovery procedures, and responds to live incidents. The environment uses Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform, alongside Azure DevOps, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting tools.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting Microsoft Azure production environments.
• Strong knowledge of Azure IaaS/PaaS, virtual machines, storage, networking, and application infrastructure.
• Experience with Azure VNets, routing, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Shell, Python, or YAML for scripting and automation.
• Experience with Azure monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
• Understanding of Azure security, access management, and operational best practices.
• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues in business-critical production environments.
• Ability to work independently and make technical decisions under pressure.
• Strong communication skills and confidence participating in customer-facing technical incident calls.
• Experience working within structured incident, change, and escalation processes.
• Availability for rotating 24/7 shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support for Azure infrastructure during cutover and hypercare.
• Troubleshoot incidents affecting Azure services, connectivity, and application availability.
• Analyze and resolve technical issues during live incident calls.
• Monitor infrastructure health, performance, availability, and security using Azure monitoring and logging solutions.
• Execute planned cutover activities, technical changes, and recovery procedures.
• Support infrastructure automation and configuration management using Infrastructure as Code.
• Collaborate with database, application, and infrastructure teams.
• Escalate critical incidents and provide clear shift handovers.
• Maintain operational documentation, incident records, and handover reports.
• Support service availability and recovery in accordance with agreed SLAs.
