Azure Devops Engineer ( SC Cleared)

Job summary

Scrumconnect Consulting is seeking an Azure DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and platform tooling for UK government departments. The role involves ensuring platforms are secure, observable, and aligned with client DevSecOps practices and Azure standards. This position requires a minimum of two days per week attendance in Taunton, Somerset.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud-native architecture patterns
• Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Bicep
• Extensive Azure DevOps experience (Pipelines, Boards, Repos)
• Experience with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes or equivalent)
• Understanding of cloud security, identity management, and DevSecOps tooling
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline design including automated security gates
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tooling (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics)
• Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-400, AZ-500) are desirable
• Knowledge of hybrid cloud and data centre integration is desirable
• Familiarity with NCSC Secure by Design and CAF 4.0 is desirable
• Experience with legacy integration patterns is desirable
• Eligibility for SC Security Clearance

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and platform tooling
• Ensure platforms are secure, observable, and aligned to client DevSecOps practices and Azure standards
• Design and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration, delivery, and deployment
• Provision and manage Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and Bicep)
• Configure and maintain Azure platform services including WebApps, EventHub, KeyVault, Azure SQL, Application Insights, Log Analytics, and Logic Apps
• Implement and manage container platforms and orchestration for containerised workloads in cloud and hybrid environments
• Establish and maintain observability tooling including logging, metrics, alerting, and distributed tracing
• Integrate security tooling into pipelines (SAST/DAST, vulnerability scanning, secrets management)
• Ensure infrastructure configurations align to client security baselines, CIS benchmarks, and CAF 4.0
• Support onboarding of development teams to platform tooling and client engineering standards
• Manage environment segregation (dev, test, production) and controlled release processes
• Maintain documentation for platform architecture, runbooks, and deployment procedures
