Azure DevOps Lead Engineer

Job summary

The Azure DevOps Lead Engineer is responsible for the technical direction and delivery of the Azure platform and DevOps practice, focusing on architecture, governance, and mentoring a team of engineers. Key responsibilities include defining Azure architecture, establishing infrastructure-as-code standards, and ensuring compliance with SOX and ISO 27001 while collaborating with Cybersecurity and IT leaders.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in DevOps, platform or cloud engineering.
• At least 4 years designing and operating Microsoft Azure environments at enterprise scale.
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineers.
• Expert-level infrastructure as code and CI/CD design.
• Deep knowledge of Azure services and security.
• Strong scripting and automation skills.
• Proven experience operating platforms in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the Azure / M365 platform architecture, Landing Zone design, governance model and DevOps standards.
• Lead, mentor and develop other DevOps Engineers in Azure best practices.
• Establish and enforce infrastructure-as-code standards and pipeline patterns.
• Own platform reliability: define SLOs and incident/problem management.
• Design and implement identity, network and policy controls.
• Lead security-by-design and compliance automation.
• Drive platform roadmap priority and technical debt reduction.
• Serve as senior technical escalation for complex platform incidents.
• Manage relationships with Microsoft and key vendors.
• Communicate platform status, risks and decisions to IT leadership.
