Azure Platform DevOps Engineer

Job summary

The Azure Platform DevOps Engineer designs, operates, and improves secure, scalable, production-grade Microsoft Azure infrastructure for government digital services. The role builds CI/CD pipelines, automates deployments using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates, and monitors and troubleshoots live environments. It also supports Azure networking, identity, security, and governance while collaborating with engineering and delivery teams to improve DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure platform engineering.
• Demonstrable experience in a DevOps engineering environment.
• Experience developing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience automating application and infrastructure deployments.
• Practical Infrastructure as Code experience, preferably with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM.
• Experience supporting live, production-grade cloud platforms.
• Understanding of Azure networking, compute, storage, identity, and security services.
• Experience with source control and collaboration tools such as Git.
• Experience with cloud monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational support.
• Ability to automate processes using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages.
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles, automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimise Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Automate Azure deployment, configuration, and operational processes.
• Maintain production cloud platforms and ensure availability, reliability, and performance.
• Monitor Azure environments and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and performance issues.
• Implement and maintain logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.
• Support cloud security, access management, networking, and governance.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, service issues, and deployment failures.
• Improve platform resilience, scalability, performance, standards, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, development, and delivery teams on cloud solutions and DevOps practices.
