Job summary

The Azure Platform Engineer role focuses on building and evolving platform capabilities for internal DevOps teams, ensuring secure and compliant cloud services. Key responsibilities include designing self-service Azure capabilities, developing reusable automation and templates, and embedding security and compliance controls into platform products.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure platform services and cloud-native patterns.
  • Experience with managed Azure services, platform automation and reusable service patterns.
  • Understanding of Azure networking, private connectivity, identity, RBAC, Managed Identities and security controls.
  • Experience with Azure Policy, governance, compliance and secure-by-default platform design.
  • Knowledge of Azure Landing Zones and enterprise-scale cloud platform principles is preferred.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep and/or ARM.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
  • Good scripting or programming skills, for example PowerShell, Python, C# or Go.
  • Experience building APIs, automation workflows, templates or platform integration patterns is a plus.
  • Experience operating business critical cloud platform services.
  • Understanding of monitoring, observability, troubleshooting and operational excellence.
  • Awareness of service lifecycle management, support models, documentation and runbooks.
  • Understanding of cloud cost optimization and efficient consumption of Azure services is a plus.
  • Product oriented mindset: able to balance consumer needs, risk, standardization and scalability.
  • Comfortable engaging with internal DevOps teams, stakeholders, security teams and other platform teams.
  • Able to explain technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Growth mindset, service orientation and a strong sense of ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and building self-service Azure capabilities for internal DevOps teams.
  • Developing reusable platform products, automation, templates, APIs and integration patterns.
  • Improving developer experience by making Azure services easier, safer and faster to consume.
  • Embedding security, compliance, policy, identity, networking and governance controls into platform capabilities.
  • Operating platform services with a focus on reliability, observability, supportability and continuous improvement.
  • Engaging with consuming DevOps teams to understand adoption barriers, gather feedback and improve APS products.
  • Collaborating with other Azure platform teams across FSCP to deliver consistent, enterprise-scale cloud capabilities.
  • Contributing to modernization of platform engineering practices, including Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and automation.
