Job summary

Own and scale the backend platform for a voice-activated sticker printer for children, keeping its real-time connections, APIs, job pipeline, and cloud infrastructure fast, reliable, safe, and cost-effective as the product grows globally. The work includes queue and API ownership, autoscaling for traffic and GPU inference, observability, cost tracking, release engineering, and device security and privacy. The role requires production infrastructure ownership and experience scaling queue-driven or real-time systems, with Python and PostgreSQL expertise and Elixir experience or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Own APIs and job queues handling sticker requests.
• Maintain reliable real-time connections for devices in partnership with firmware engineering.
• Tune autoscaling for traffic spikes and a growing device fleet.
• Coordinate with ML serving engineering on GPU inference.
• Improve observability through metrics, logs, tracing, and alerts.
• Build cost instrumentation for requests, models, and services.
• Own server-side release engineering, including safe deployments, database migrations, and rollback.
• Partner on abuse prevention, device security, and privacy for a children's product.
• Share on-call duties and improve the rotation.
