Lead Cloud Platform Engineer - Identity

Job summary

As a Lead Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery and ongoing oversight of Identity and Access Management (IAM) platforms. You will design and implement the technical components of the identity strategy within SSE’s environment, working closely with cross-functional teams to architect robust, scalable, and secure Identity frameworks. The role also involves providing leadership, team management, and vision in the delivery of SSE’s Identity services.

• Deep understanding of IAM concepts, technologies, or directory services
• Experience with Microsoft EntraID, Okta, or Ping solutions
• Knowledge of Access Management (AM)
• Knowledge of Identity Governance and Administration (IGA)
• Knowledge of Privileged Access Management (PAM)
• Knowledge of Directory Services (DS)
• Ability to manage and guide delivery of identity platforms
• Knowledge of authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect)
• Understanding of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and digital certificates
• Awareness of security assurance and design best practices (NIST, CIS)

Responsibilities

• Deliver and oversee Identity and Access Management (IAM) platforms
• Design and implement technical components of the identity strategy
• Work with cross-functional teams to architect robust, scalable, and secure Identity frameworks
• Provide leadership, team management, and vision for Identity services delivery
• Ensure technical services portfolio meets customer requirements, regulatory, and security policies
• Collaborate with Architecture, Cyber Defence, Risk, and Control on IAM strategy
• Share insights on best practices
• Provide technology governance for IAM technologies
• Drive integration of IAM solutions with existing IT infrastructure
• Ensure continuity of existing IAM processes
• Support health and hygiene deliverables to reduce operational risk
• Address critical platform obsolescence for Active Directory domains
• Collaborate on strategic vision to modernize Identity and Access Management
• Deliver enhanced controls and governance for Privileged Access Management
• Provide team leadership and management for Identity team members
