Azure Cloud Engineer (DevOps)

Job summary

Implements, automates, and supports production Microsoft Azure environments for clients, covering cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, monitoring, and security. The role deploys and troubleshoots Azure resources, builds Terraform or Bicep configurations and YAML pipelines in Azure DevOps, applies identity and governance controls, and documents operational handovers. It also supports migrations, backup and recovery testing, and cloud cost and resource optimization.

Qualifications

• Approximately 3–5 years of relevant infrastructure, cloud, or DevOps experience, including hands-on Azure administration.
• Experience deploying and supporting production Azure environments.
• Experience with Terraform or Bicep and a working understanding of infrastructure as code.
• Experience building or maintaining Azure DevOps pipelines using YAML.
• Proficiency with PowerShell and Git.
• Understanding of Azure networking, identity, access controls, monitoring, and backup.
• Ability to troubleshoot independently, recognize risks, and escalate appropriately.
• Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage assigned work across multiple client environments.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and maintain Azure virtual machines, storage, virtual networks, backup, and monitoring services.
• Configure network security groups, VPN connectivity, private endpoints, and DNS.
• Support migrations from on-premises and hosted infrastructure to Azure.
• Troubleshoot performance, availability, connectivity, configuration, deployment, and infrastructure issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve resource utilization and control cloud costs.
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform or Bicep.
• Develop and support Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
• Automate provisioning, maintenance, and operational tasks with PowerShell.
• Manage Git repositories, pull requests, code reviews, and version control practices.
• Implement repeatable deployments with testing, approvals, and rollback procedures.
• Apply least-privilege access using Microsoft Entra ID, Azure role-based access control, and managed identities.
• Secure credentials and secrets with Azure Key Vault and pipeline controls.
• Implement resource tagging, Azure Policy, and configuration standards.
• Investigate and remediate Microsoft Defender for Cloud findings.
• Follow change management processes and maintain evidence for security and audit requirements.
• Configure Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, dashboards, and actionable alerts.
• Support backup and recovery testing.
• Maintain infrastructure diagrams, configuration records, deployment guides, and operational runbooks.
• Communicate technical progress, risks, and issues to colleagues and clients.
• Coordinate with service desk and project teams on operational handovers.
