Cloud Architect

Job summary

The Distinguished Architect shapes and implements cloud architecture strategy across a global portfolio of SaaS products, aligning product and engineering teams around architectural direction and technical convergence. The role evaluates architectures, APIs, and cloud technologies; defines non-functional requirements; trials emerging options with cloud providers and vendors; and communicates decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders. The work supports software development in cloud and Infrastructure as Code environments.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of software development experience building SaaS in cloud and Infrastructure as Code environments
• At least 2 years of experience as an architect or equivalent for a large-scale SaaS provider or cloud hyperscaler
• Experience developing, documenting, and communicating architecture strategy for a significant global cloud-based SaaS solution
• Ability to evaluate cloud architectures, technologies, APIs, and best practices across a product portfolio
• Experience improving scalability, availability, and performance in cloud environments
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex architecture concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience collaborating remotely across teams, countries, time zones, and organisational boundaries

Responsibilities

• Refine, communicate, and help implement the cloud architecture roadmap and strategy across the product portfolio
• Align Product and Engineering implementations with architectural direction and promote technical convergence
• Recommend architectural patterns and technology selections
• Evaluate architectures and APIs, including trade-offs across patterns and styles
• Assess paved-path technologies, identify gaps, and trial emerging options with cloud providers and technology vendors
• Define, document, and promote non-functional requirements
• Explain architectural concepts and decision rationales to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Represent the architecture function in platform integration and product or solution discussions with teams, customers, and partners
