Job summary

Manulife is seeking a Cloud/DevOps Engineer to design, build, and improve cloud-native banking platforms using Azure and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of software engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Experience managing Azure Kubernetes Service environments.
• Advanced experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
• Understanding of Kubernetes architecture and core concepts.
• Experience troubleshooting Kubernetes environments.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Experience with GitOps practices and Flux CD.
• Experience developing and maintaining Helm charts.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Experience configuring Istio service mesh.
• Experience with monitoring and observability practices.
• Experience with Artifactory and software artifact management.
• Strong Linux/UNIX administration experience.
• Experience with Java-based applications and Maven pipelines.
• Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills and experience in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.
• Curiosity and passion for platform engineering and cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and support Azure-based cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
• Build and optimize Azure Kubernetes Service environments.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Develop automated deployment workflows and release processes.
• Administer Azure API Management and support API lifecycle management.
• Manage Azure networking components and connectivity requirements.
• Implement Flux CD for GitOps-based deployments.
• Create and maintain Helm charts and configuration management.
• Manage SSL/TLS certificate lifecycles and renewals.
• Troubleshoot platform incidents across Kubernetes clusters and cloud infrastructure.
• Configure and support Istio service mesh capabilities.
• Implement monitoring and observability solutions.
• Partner with development teams to improve deployment processes.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship.
