Job summary
Designs, builds, operates, and improves production-grade automation for a healthcare data platform, covering CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, environments, and recovery procedures. The role consolidates Azure DevOps pipelines, implements GitOps delivery, automates Azure provisioning and disaster recovery, and hardens Kubernetes workloads using Terraform, Helm, and AKS. It also applies AI-assisted engineering and partners with platform, solution engineering, service operations, and QA teams to reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications
- At least 6 years of cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering experience, including 1–2+ years of production infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD automation on Microsoft Azure.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
- In-depth knowledge of Terraform, Helm, Azure DevOps pipelines, and GitOps delivery with Argo CD or Flux.
- Strong Terraform experience with module design, provider version management, state management, and refactoring.
- Recent Helm chart authoring and refactoring experience with Kubernetes and AKS.
- Knowledge of Azure services including AKS, Key Vault, Storage, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, networking, and identity.
- Experience with observability as code using Azure Monitor, Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.
- Hands-on experience automating backup, restore, and failover with measured RTO and RPO.
- Experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, including protecting confidential data and reviewing generated work.
- Experience running, hardening, and right-sizing production Kubernetes workloads.
- Hands-on Kafka operations experience, including topic and partition design, consumer group sizing, and throughput and latency trade-offs.
- Strong Python and Bash skills for building maintainable tools.
Responsibilities
- Consolidate Azure DevOps pipeline YAML into reusable templates with change detection and automated quality gates.
- Replace manual cross-functional work with scheduled, auditable automation.
- Implement GitOps continuous delivery with automated reconciliation, drift detection, and rollback.
- Automate on-demand provisioning and teardown of Azure environments and associated applications.
- Automate backup validation, restore, failover, and disaster recovery drills; measure RTO and RPO.
- Maintain and improve Terraform configuration, modules, state boundaries, and Helm chart reuse and validation.
- Operate Helm-deployed platform services and harden Kubernetes workloads for availability and capacity.
- Build and maintain build agent images and available build tooling.
- Automate policy guardrails, security and infrastructure-as-code scanning, alerts, and dashboards.
- Apply AI-assisted engineering and contribute reusable skills and runbooks to a shared library.
- Identify and prioritize automation gaps with development and operations teams.
- Troubleshoot production and staging issues and document automated processes.
