Job summary
The Cloud Engineer Azure SQL designs, manages, and improves database platforms while supporting the migration of on-premises SQL Server environments to Azure. The role covers Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance operations, high availability and disaster recovery, Infrastructure as Code and scripting automation, monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity management. It also contributes to database platform security, governance, compliance, and standardization in the pension sector.

Qualifications
- HBO or WO work and thinking level.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator, Database Engineer, or in a similar role; 5 or more years for the senior level.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with Azure services or strong motivation to develop in Azure.
- Knowledge of high availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups.
- Experience with performance tuning, troubleshooting, and database administration.
- Experience with PowerShell or other automation techniques.
- Good communication skills in Dutch and English.
Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server platforms.
- Support migration of on-premises databases to Azure.
- Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Automate database operations using Infrastructure as Code and scripting.
- Collaborate with platform, architecture, security, and application teams.
- Implement monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity management.
- Advise on cloud architecture, security, and database services.
- Contribute to database platform standardization, governance, and compliance.
- Help develop the Azure data platform.
