Cloud Engineer - Azure

Job summary

The Azure DevOps Engineer builds and supports secure, scalable Microsoft Azure platforms and delivery pipelines. The role uses Terraform or Bicep for Infrastructure as Code, Azure DevOps for CI/CD, and Azure Storage and Azure Files for cloud and hybrid file storage. It also involves automating deployments, implementing monitoring and security controls, troubleshooting infrastructure, and collaborating with architects and Agile delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Microsoft Azure experience in a cloud engineering or DevOps role.
• Practical Azure DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines and repositories.
• Experience with Terraform or Bicep.
• Working knowledge of Azure networking, identity, compute, and storage.
• Knowledge of Azure Files, storage accounts, SMB connectivity, file permissions, and storage security.
• Experience with Git and source control.
• Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Understanding of cloud security, monitoring, reliability, scalability, and availability.
• Ability to work independently on defined tasks and collaborate with senior engineers.
• Must be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain UK Security Check clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and maintain Azure cloud environments and infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep.
• Create and improve Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure and application deployments.
• Configure and support Azure Storage, Azure Files, storage permissions, hybrid file shares, and migrations.
• Implement automated testing, security checks, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• Troubleshoot storage, infrastructure, pipeline, and deployment issues.
• Maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and Agile delivery teams on cloud solutions and platform improvements.
