Job summary

The Technische Universität Berlin is seeking a Cloud Engineer to plan, conceptualize, introduce, build, and operate their central "Infrastructure as a Service" platform based on Openstack. This role involves managing Kubernetes clusters, ensuring platform security, and optimizing technical processes through automation.

Qualifications

  • Completed scientific university degree (Diplom, Master, or equivalent) in (applied) computer science.
  • Outstanding IT expertise and experience in infrastructure, server systems, web server software, and related technologies, especially high availability, virtualization, Openstack, and its components.
  • System engineering and software development, including programming and scripting languages.
  • Introduction of new infrastructure components and implementation of user-friendly migration solutions.
  • Orchestration and container solutions.
  • Kubernetes components (kube-controller-manager, kube-apiserver, kube-scheduler, kubelet, kube-proxy, etcd).
  • Application and service-oriented conception, implementation, and communication of new IT solutions.
  • IT security (system and network security) and data protection.
  • Security testing, including the use of relevant tools.
  • Monitoring of server systems, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation of metrics and log data for system optimization.
  • Project and teamwork experience.
  • Very good German and English language skills.
  • Willingness for independent further training.
  • Commitment regarding working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, conceptualize, evaluate, and design the central "Infrastructure as a Service" platform and underlying network infrastructure based on Openstack.
  • Introduce, build, and operate the platform, including installation, configuration, backup, administration, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize the network area.
  • Establish and manage virtualization for network, resource, user GUI, provisioning processes, and automatic rights.
  • Support core components.
  • Automate and continuously optimize technical processes.
  • Integrate monitoring and logging for stable platform operation.
  • Ensure security of the "Infrastructure as a Service" platform.
  • Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters operated by ZECM.
