Cloud Engineer

Job summary

Provides cloud engineering expertise to a team conducting market investigations, compliance testing, and dispute support under the EU Data Act. The role audits cloud services against interoperability and cloud-switching standards, develops automated compliance tools, and prepares technical reports and evidence for regulators and industry stakeholders. Core technologies include Azure services, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Azure DevOps, and OpenStack.

Qualifications

• NFQ Level 7 or 8 qualification in Cloud Services, Engineering, or a relevant STEM discipline.
• At least 3 years of operational experience managing cloud workloads and core Azure services, including AKS, Virtual WAN, Cosmos DB, and Entra ID.
• Working knowledge or hands-on experience with core GCP services.
• Experience packaging applications with Docker and deploying them to Kubernetes; foundational Terraform knowledge.
• Experience with scripted automation, Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, and setup or administration of local open-source clouds such as OpenStack.
• Strong technical drafting and communication skills for internal and external reports.
• Experience in a regulated industry or public sector compliance environment.
• Familiarity with custom computing platforms, hardware accelerators, and AI workloads.

Responsibilities

• Provide cloud engineering analysis for market investigations, customer complaints, and regulatory policy papers.
• Develop technical infrastructure, automated tools, and testing systems for compliance monitoring.
• Audit regulated entities against Data Act interoperability and cloud-switching standards.
• Prepare briefing papers and present technical evidence to government departments, industry bodies, and EU regulators.
