Cloud Engineer

Job summary

The Cloud Engineer owns and improves GitLab and GitOps practices across engineering teams, using Git as the source of truth for infrastructure and application deployments. The role builds GitLab CI/CD pipelines, manages promotion across development, production, and edge devices, and maintains Terraform for AWS. It also supports platform reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident response, security practices, and operational automation in an industrial robotics environment.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in cloud, DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
• Hands-on experience with GitOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform.
• Familiarity with AWS, including EKS, RDS, S3, and EC2.
• Programming or scripting skills in Python, Go, or a similar language.
• Basic understanding of software security fundamentals.
• Experience deploying to edge devices or managing distributed-system fleets is a plus.
• Experience with secrets tools such as External Secrets, Sealed Secrets, or Vault is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain GitOps workflows for infrastructure and application deployments.
• Manage promotion flows across development, production, and edge devices.
• Write and maintain Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code for AWS.
• Build and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines to test, validate, and deploy changes.
• Set up monitoring, alerting, and dashboards; participate in incident response and post-mortems.
• Apply software security best practices.
• Automate operational work and develop small tools or services.
• Support engineering teams with deployments, environment setup, and cost visibility.
