Job summary
The Cloud Engineer develops, deploys, and maintains cloud-based cyber capabilities, integrating mission-essential applications across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. The role optimizes backend infrastructure and network-traffic data pipelines, implements cloud security controls, and supports DevSecOps and CI/CD practices using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and containers such as Docker and Kubernetes. Work includes supporting cyber operations and contributing to system architecture and design reviews.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of relevant experience as a cloud engineer, computer scientist, software developer, or in a related field
- Secret or higher security clearance
- U.S. citizenship required
- Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred, with experience potentially accepted in place of education
- Experience designing, developing, and managing cloud infrastructure and applications
- Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with Python, Java, C#, or similar programming languages
- Experience with containers such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements
- Hands-on experience with Agile delivery and a DevSecOps framework
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with a teleworking team
Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, deploy, operate, and maintain cloud-based cyber capabilities.
- Integrate mission-essential applications across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Monitor cloud system performance and optimize resources for cost-effectiveness and availability.
- Implement encryption, access controls, audits, and compliance measures.
- Optimize backend infrastructure, network-traffic ingestion, and data-processing pipelines.
- Support DevSecOps processes and CI/CD for new and upgraded applications.
- Communicate system issues and contribute to requirements, architecture, and design reviews.
- Research emerging technologies and identify opportunities for improvement.
