Cloud & Platform Engineer

Job summary

Manulife is seeking a Cloud & Platform Engineer to build and operate their Azure-based cloud ecosystem and platforms. The role requires 3 to 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, platform services, and DevOps practices, focusing on improving developer experience and platform reliability.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience in cloud engineering or DevOps.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or other major cloud platforms.
• Practical experience with containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Scripting or automation experience with Python or Bash.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and security fundamentals.
• Experience troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, build, operate, and improve Azure-based platform, services and cloud environments.
• Support containerized workloads on Azure Kubernetes platforms (AKS) and Azure VM.
• Engineer and maintain platform components like Azure Blob Storage, Event Grid, and Key Vault.
• Contribute to DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Support event-driven and scheduled workload patterns.
• Partner with application and data teams to onboard workloads.
• Troubleshoot incidents and deployment issues.
• Improve observability, reliability, and security across the platform.
• Support Kubernetes-based application development and troubleshooting.
• Assist with platform automation for build and release.
• Maintain secure secrets and access patterns using Azure Key Vault.
• Contribute to monitoring and operational tooling.
• Work with senior engineers to improve platform standards.
• Handle Azure resource provisioning requests.
• Participate in production support and root cause analysis.
• Document technical designs and operating procedures.
