Job summary
A Platform Engineer builds and operates AWS cloud-native platforms and infrastructure, helping clients address complex technology challenges and adopt modern engineering practices. The role includes provisioning infrastructure with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation or AWS CDK, automating deployments through CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring platform health, security, reliability and cost efficiency.
Qualifications
- Experience developing, supporting or operating cloud infrastructure and platform solutions.
- Foundational understanding of AWS services, cloud infrastructure and modern engineering practices.
- Experience with one or more AWS services, such as Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, Amazon VPC, AWS IAM or AWS Lambda.
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles and tools.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with Python, TypeScript, Bash or Go.
- Experience with Git-based version control systems.
- Understanding of monitoring, logging, operational support and core security principles.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Willingness and eligibility to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
Responsibilities
- Build, configure and maintain AWS infrastructure and platform solutions.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Write maintainable, documented code, scripts and automation.
- Monitor platform health, performance and availability and support operations.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, platform and deployment issues.
- Apply engineering standards, operational practices and quality controls.
- Optimise platform performance, reliability and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects and client stakeholders.
- Produce technical documentation and knowledge-sharing materials.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering communities.
