Job summary

The Deutsches Zentrum für Astrophysik (DZA) is seeking experienced DevOps Infrastructure Engineers to support the development and expansion of its IT infrastructure for the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF). The role involves migrating monitoring systems, improving performance, and collaborating with various partners in a high-performance computing environment.

Qualifications

• University degree in computer science or related field
• Strong understanding of software development and operational requirements
• Proficient in Unix/Linux systems, shell scripting, and process automation
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows
• Familiarity with HPC environments and distributed file systems
• Knowledge of cloud technologies and Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• Understanding of IT security and compliance requirements
• Experience with PostgreSQL and/or streaming systems like Apache Kafka
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and performance bottlenecks
• Experience in developing and managing data engineering pipelines
• Perl knowledge for understanding legacy code is a plus
• Proactive and solution-oriented approach with strong teamwork skills
• Good command of English and German
