Data Centre Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

The Data Centre Infrastructure Engineer will manage and maintain Global Data Centres, focusing on the physical deployment and maintenance of critical IT hardware and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Diploma in IT, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English
• Basic knowledge of electrical safety standards, preferably NEN 3140
• Valid VCA certificate
• Valid driving licence (B)
• Willingness to travel between data centre locations
• Flexibility to work outside standard business hours
• Willingness to participate in a stand-by rotation
• Team-oriented mindset and strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Installing, cabling and powering servers, storage and network equipment
• Building and maintaining cold/hot aisle containment
• Installing, testing and labelling structured copper and fibre optic cabling
• Performing advanced fibre optic procedures, including fusion splicing and OTDR analysis
• Installing cable tray systems and supporting the scalability of the physical infrastructure
• Configuring server management interfaces, such as iLO and iDRAC
• Troubleshooting Layer 1 and Layer 2 connectivity issues
• Using DCIM and ticketing systems for asset tracking and incident management
• Documenting cable routes, asset data and changes
• Leading projects and performing quality assurance
• Providing hands-on support
