Data Platform Engineer

Job summary

Bupa is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to build and operate cloud infrastructure that powers analytics, reporting, and data science. This role focuses on platform engineering rather than traditional data engineering, requiring strong cloud engineering skills, automation, and platform operations in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in platform, cloud, or data platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience with key Azure data services such as Data Factory, Data Lake, Power BI, or Fabric.
• Experience working with Snowflake or other relational cloud data platforms.
• Foundational to intermediate skills in Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Working knowledge of monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or Application Insights.
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, build, and maintenance of core Azure and Snowflake data platform components.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform for repeatable and automated deployments.
• Build and run CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Contribute to platform monitoring, including logging, metrics, and alerting through observability tooling.
• Troubleshoot platform issues and escalate as appropriate.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and data teams to provision secure and performant environments.
• Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying enhancements to automation, performance, and reliability.
