Job summary
The Data Platform Engineer develops and operates a strategic Google Cloud Platform data platform, providing reliable data for operational and analytical use. The role builds batch and near-real-time ETL/ELT pipelines, integrates and transforms data, and supports platform infrastructure through a DevOps approach using services such as BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and Terraform. It also contributes to technical direction, code reviews, and mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications
- Several years of application development experience with Java and/or Python.
- Project experience with Google Cloud Platform and services such as Cloud Run, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Composer, Dataproc, or Dataflow.
- Experience with IaaS/PaaS deployments, Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools, and CI/CD using Git and GitHub Actions or comparable methods.
- Practical knowledge of data modeling and relational databases; experience with document and key-value stores is preferred.
- Experience with enterprise data warehouses and ETL/ELT processes.
- Strong SQL data-processing knowledge and experience with Apache Spark, Apache Beam, Apache Airflow, or similar pipeline technologies.
- Ability to use AI tools productively while applying sound judgment to data and AI outputs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and operate solutions for a Google Cloud data platform.
- Build and maintain batch and near-real-time pipelines that integrate data from diverse sources.
- Model and transform data for operational and analytical applications.
- Support IaaS, platform operations, and GCP infrastructure components.
- Contribute to the team's technical direction and platform development.
- Conduct code reviews and support less experienced team members.
