Job summary

HUK-COBURG Versicherungsgruppe is seeking a Data Platform Engineer / Kubernetes to join their team. This role involves participating in the design of a modern Data-Tech-Stack within Platform Engineering, with a focus on administering and developing central Kubernetes, Lakehouse, and Event platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience with distributed architectures, container orchestration, or Big Data platforms, and a passion for Open Source and Linux.

Qualifications

  • Hold a degree in (Business) Informatics or a comparable technical field.
  • Possess sound experience in the operation and development of distributed architectures.
  • Have very good knowledge in container orchestration or Big Data platforms (desirable).
  • Demonstrate openness and passion for Open Source and very good Linux knowledge.
  • Exhibit strong innovation capability and openness to new technological developments, especially in the Data Space.
  • Have a mindset to automate any task that might occur a second time.
  • Possess fluent German language skills (minimum C1 level).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design of a modern Data-Tech-Stack within Platform Engineering and set priorities.
  • Administer and develop the central Kubernetes platform (Kubernetes, Cilium, containerd, Prometheus Stack).
  • Administer and develop the Lakehouse platform based on Stackable (Apache Iceberg, Apache Spark, Trino, OPA).
  • Administer and develop the Event platform (Apache Kafka) for decoupling house-wide service-to-service communication.
  • Implement GitOps and deployment procedures for large cluster environments using Ansible and Terraform.
  • Engage in close exchange with and provide support for users and customers of the platforms.
