Job summary
The Data Platform Engineer supports the delivery and operation of a secure, scalable cloud data platform built on Microsoft Fabric. The role maintains platform health, availability, capacity, and configuration; resolves incidents and manages downtime; and contributes to cloud cost optimisation, technical and financial observability, and Platform as Code using Agile practices. Out-of-hours operational support may be required.

Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric and SQL Server administration.
- Demonstrable experience in a relevant technical role.
- Experience handling incidents, service requests, changes, and problem-solving to agreed SLAs.
- Experience implementing cloud technologies.
- Strong communication skills, including sharing and presenting ideas.
- Willingness to learn and apply best practices, procedures, and quality standards.
- Ability to work under pressure in complex environments and with legacy and current technologies.
- Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Platform as Code, or Zero Trust architectures is desirable.
- Experience with operational monitoring, alerting, and cloud cost monitoring and reporting is desirable.
- Ability to operate and influence at different organisational levels is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain the Microsoft Fabric data platform.
- Monitor platform health, performance, availability, and capacity.
- Manage capacity, downtime, and disruption risks for platform users.
- Assist with cloud cost optimisation.
- Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and resolve issues.
- Provide out-of-hours operational support when required.
- Use Agile methodologies for platform development.
- Deliver Platform as Code.
- Implement technical and financial observability using cloud platform design patterns.
- Support projects and collaborate with team members.
