Data Platform Engineer Working Student (m/w/d)

Job summary

The role involves supporting the design and construction of Databricks-native data platforms, specifically Lakehouse architectures, for internal projects and clients. Key responsibilities include implementing Medallion architectures, automating deployments with Databricks Asset Bundles and CI/CD pipelines, and developing data quality frameworks while working with technologies such as Python, SQL, and cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Qualifications

• Enrolled student in IT-related field
• Good knowledge of Python and SQL
• Experience with Databricks and/or cloud data platforms is a plus
• Interest in Data Lakehouse, Data Governance, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD
• Basic understanding of data modeling and integration processes (ETL/ELT)
• Experience with Git and version control is desirable
• Ability to work independently and structured, with teamwork and communication skills
• Fluent in German and English (minimum C1 level in both languages)
• Ability to work on-site at least 50% in Cologne or Munich

Responsibilities

• Support design and construction of Databricks-native data platforms
• Implement Medallion architectures including Auto Loader-based ingestion
• Assist in building data governance concepts with Unity Catalog
• Automate deployments with Databricks Asset Bundles and CI/CD pipelines
• Develop data quality frameworks and monitoring for production data platforms
• Contribute to technical documentation of platform architectures and best practices
• Engage in internal tooling and demonstrator projects
