Job summary

NFU Mutual is seeking a Database Infrastructure Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide technical ownership and maintain the stability of the NFUM Database Estate.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting and improving databases in a regulated environment
• Demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft SQL
• Knowledge of Oracle and PostgreSQL
• Experience in database migrations and consolidation
• Experience in database observability and troubleshooting
• Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure SQL PaaS)
• Knowledge of governance practices in regulated industries

Responsibilities

• Provide technical ownership of the NFUM Database Estate
• Maintain the stability of the Database Estate
• Provide technical advisory support for projects
• Assist with resolution of database-related incidents
• Review and approve change requests
• Assess database performance and recommend improvements
• Define database guardrails and build standards
• Ensure third-party compliance with standards
• Represent at the Change Advisory Board
• Collaborate with external IT partners for service improvements
