Database Reliability Engineer

Job summary

Lifemark Health Group is seeking a Database Reliability Engineer to manage the reliability, performance, security, and automation of Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline.
• Five or more years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience.
• Expertise in T-SQL, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with backup and recovery, high availability, and incident management.
• Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD practices.
• Strong scripting and automation skills.
• Experience securing Azure database connectivity.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with Terraform or Bicep for Azure provisioning.
• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory and cloud-native monitoring.
• Knowledge of Docker or Kubernetes.
• Microsoft certification in Azure database administration or DevOps engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Manage backups, restores, indexing, integrity checks, patching, and disaster recovery testing.
• Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance.
• Lead investigation and resolution of SQL-related incidents.
• Maintain runbooks, configuration standards, and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with developers to improve database schemas and queries.
• Review and optimize T-SQL code and execution plans.
• Support testing before production releases.
• Administer and optimize Azure SQL Database and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Plan and execute migrations to Azure database services.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database changes.
• Automate database administration workflows using scripting languages.
• Implement automated checks and monitoring procedures.
• Apply database security best practices.
• Forecast capacity and scalability needs.
• Evaluate new database technologies for improvements.
