Job summary

The Site Reliability Engineer role focuses on enhancing platform reliability and operational excellence within a SaaS software environment. Key responsibilities include optimizing Azure infrastructure, implementing CI/CD practices using GitHub Actions, and developing observability solutions to ensure system performance and resilience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ experience in software engineering, infrastructure, cloud engineering or site reliability
• Experience as a senior contributor in a small engineering or operations team
• Deep hands-on Microsoft Azure experience across IaaS and PaaS
• Strong understanding of SRE principles including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code using Bicep, ARM, Terraform or similar
• CI/CD experience, ideally with GitHub Actions
• Experience implementing observability and monitoring solutions
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration

Responsibilities

• Support Engineering leadership in defining and improving SLOs, SLIs and error budgets
• Participate in incident response and post-incident reviews
• Contribute to practical runbooks and processes for platform resilience
• Work with development teams to balance delivery velocity with reliability
• Spearhead Azure infrastructure utilization across environments
• Optimize cloud performance, security, scalability and cost
• Drive infrastructure-as-code maturity using Bicep
• Ensure version-controlled infrastructure deployed through automated pipelines
• Build and evolve monitoring for application performance and infrastructure health
• Develop proactive alerting to surface critical signals
• Help teams identify and resolve issues proactively
• Own and evolve CI/CD practices using GitHub Actions
• Build safe, repeatable deployment processes with rollback capability
• Partner with development teams on capacity planning and performance testing
• Build SRE capability across the engineering organization
• Share knowledge on incident management and operational excellence
• Embed security-first thinking into infrastructure and deployment practices
• Support compliance expectations for government and education customers
• Improve disaster recovery and business continuity processes
• Document and test backup, failover and recovery procedures
