Job summary
Caltech is seeking a DevOps Engineer to manage large-scale, on-premises infrastructure for the Deep Synoptic Array (DSA) project.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, systems administration, or software infrastructure role
- Extensive experience with Linux server administration
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools
- Experience with containerization technologies
- Experience designing and maintaining CI pipelines
- Strong scripting and automation skills in Bash and Python
- Experience with bare-metal provisioning tools
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Co-lead design, deployment, and management of on-premises infrastructure
- Develop and implement automated processes for server provisioning
- Establish, maintain, and administer software deployment clusters
- Maintain and optimize configuration of routers and switches
- Package DSA software for deployment
- Design and implement robust CI pipelines
- Develop and maintain deployment configurations
- Establish and maintain monitoring and logging systems
- Support compliance with relevant security standards
- Collaborate with Software Development team
