Job summary

Build and operate an internal platform that enables product teams to deliver software safely and efficiently across public cloud, on-premises Kubernetes, and Docker Swarm environments. The role covers self-service developer workflows, GitOps delivery, infrastructure as code, observability, security, and disaster recovery, while maintaining developer environments and licensing systems and evaluating AI-assisted engineering tools.

Qualifications

  • Several years of experience in platform engineering, site reliability engineering, or DevOps, including production Kubernetes responsibility.
  • Familiarity with K3s, Docker Swarm, and OpenShift.
  • Hands-on experience with Argo CD, Helm, and a CI/CD platform such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, or Jenkins.
  • Strong Terraform skills and experience with Ansible or similar configuration-management tools.
  • Experience with a major cloud provider, preferably AWS, including identity and access management, networking, and managed Kubernetes.
  • Experience with eBPF networking and security, service meshes, or multi-cluster management.
  • Experience operating on-premises or bare-metal workloads, including hardware lifecycle, persistent storage, and network integration.
  • Experience with point-in-time restoration and recovery from system failures.
  • Ability to use Go, Python, or Bash for automation, tooling, and Kubernetes operators or controllers.
  • Knowledge of DNS, TLS, certificate management, load balancing, ingress, Kubernetes Gateway API, firewalls, and zero-trust principles.
  • Experience with secrets-management tools such as HashiCorp Vault, OpenBao, AWS Secrets Manager, or External Secrets Operator.
  • Experience building observability and alerting systems, preferably with OpenTelemetry.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain self-service platform templates, reusable pipelines, and documented defaults.
  • Design and operate GitOps delivery with progressive deployment and automated rollback.
  • Provide solutions and documentation for air-gapped and isolated systems.
  • Provision and manage cloud and on-premises infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Operate production Kubernetes clusters in cloud and bare-metal environments.
  • Maintain Docker Compose and Docker Swarm environments during platform migration.
  • Build observability for metrics, logs, and traces; define service objectives and error budgets.
  • Support alerting, on-call operations, and blameless incident reviews.
  • Embed identity, secrets management, policy enforcement, image signing, and vulnerability scanning into the platform.
  • Own high availability, backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures and testing.
  • Improve workload cost visibility and resource sizing.
  • Maintain reproducible local and ephemeral developer environments.
  • Evaluate and integrate AI coding and operations assistants with appropriate safeguards.
  • Maintain architecture records, runbooks, and platform documentation; help teams adopt platform capabilities.
  • Implement and maintain customer licensing systems.
