Job summary

The Medior Cloud Native Platform Engineer role focuses on developing the OpenShift platform and associated software, emphasizing software development as a primary responsibility. Key tasks include creating platform functionality with Kubernetes Operators and Controllers, automating processes, and utilizing CI/CD tools such as Argo CD and Helm to enhance deployment and software lifecycle management.

Qualifications

• Experience in software development with Go or a similar programming language.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes from a platform, infrastructure, or engineering perspective.
• Interest in or experience with OpenShift.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle, deployment, and staging.
• Experience with APIs, testing, error handling, and maintainable software.
• Experience with containers and Linux.
• Experience with CI/CD and/or GitOps.
• Strong understanding of the relationship between software and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop platform software and tooling, primarily in Go.
• Create Operators, Controllers, APIs, and other software components for Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Build reusable platform components for multiple users or teams.
• Automate manual tasks.
• Work with Kubernetes resources, Custom Resource Definitions, and reconciliation patterns.
• Enhance functionality around deployment, staging, and software lifecycle.
• Engage in CI/CD and GitOps using tools like Argo CD and Helm.
• Contribute to topics such as networking, authentication, ingress/egress, storage, and certificates.
• Improve reliability, error handling, and recovery mechanisms.
• Investigate technical issues and translate findings into structural improvements.
• Collaborate with other engineers to advance platform development.
