Job summary

Fearless is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the Operations & Maintenance team on a GSA modernization program. This role involves supporting a mission-critical federal system built on legacy Documentum in AWS, focusing on automation, system integration, operational reliability, and ongoing modernization activities. The engineer will contribute across the entire technology stack—software, infrastructure, data, AI, and security—to deliver secure, efficient, and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, site reliability engineering, or operations support.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • Familiarity with enterprise application technologies such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages used in operational environments.
  • Experience supporting or troubleshooting PostgreSQL databases and related infrastructure components.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containerized applications, and microservice-based environments.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, or other automation and orchestration technologies.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and operational support workflows.
  • Experience using source control and collaboration tools such as Git, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and incident management practices in production environments.
  • Understanding of compliance-driven environments and federal IT security standards is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support application maintenance and production operations for enterprise systems in AWS-hosted environments.
  • Investigate and resolve defects, system issues, and performance concerns in development, test, and production environments.
  • Assist with support and maintenance of legacy systems and modernization-related infrastructure, including PostgreSQL, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and Ansible.
  • Collaborate with DevOps engineers, system administrators, developers, and security teams to support system reliability and operational stability.
  • Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Support release and deployment activities, including validation, change coordination, and environment readiness tasks.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, operational procedures, and configuration records.
  • Contribute to observability, monitoring, and operational support efforts across production and non-production environments.
  • Assist with modernization and migration activities to help ensure continuity between legacy and modernized systems.
  • Support implementation of automation and operational improvements that increase system reliability and maintainability.
  • Ensure operational activities comply with federal security and compliance requirements (e.g., NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, RMF).
