Job summary

Electronic Arts is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join the EA SPORTS team. This role involves designing, deploying, and operating solutions in a public cloud environment, integrating with corporate backend infrastructure and services. The engineer will troubleshoot issues, collaborate across teams, and participate in on-call support rotations.

Qualifications

  • Six or more years of relevant experience with public cloud services, primarily Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Experience with AWS is also acceptable.
  • Proven track record in the design, implementation, and operational support of critical, always-on cloud systems.
  • Expertise in Kubernetes (GKE), Helm, and Docker to manage and scale containerized workloads.
  • Experience developing automated solutions using Python, Ruby, or Go.
  • Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Chef and Ansible.
  • Practical knowledge of monitoring systems such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Practical knowledge of pipeline automation platforms including Jenkins, GitLab, and GitHub.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cloud security best practices, Linux server security, and cloud networking, including load balancers, DNS, subnetting, route tables, NAT, and firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of database concepts, including RDBMS and NoSQL, with specific experience managing and optimizing Database-as-a-Service offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of secure, scalable, and supportable technical solutions and deployment models adhering to DevOps security standards.
  • Participate in sprint planning, conduct regular one-on-one meetings, contribute to engineer skill development reviews and goal setting, and mentor engineers in technical design and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Oversee the review and approval of internal and partner technical plans, technical briefs, and work plans.
  • Support always-on gaming server infrastructure and provide on-call support for feature launches, live events, and emergency escalations.
  • Resolve complex deployment, connectivity, performance, and availability issues within production and live services environments.
  • Lead the development of productivity-enhancing tools and evaluate new technologies to improve team efficiency and platform capabilities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and runbooks for live support.
